Actuary (with Profits)

Newly Qualified Actuary – Glasgow (hybrid)

Change Recruitment Group is working with a Life Insurance organisation who have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified/nearly qualified Actuary to join the Actuarial Department in the role of Development Actuary. This role will be supporting the business strategy in developing their financial management approach, with a focus on it's with-profit (WP) funds.

Key responsibilities:

Supporting ongoing activities in the actuarial realm of financial management for with-profits funds, including:

• Developing and refining run-off plans for pertinent funds.
• Formulating and integrating a financial management framework applicable to all with-profits funds.
• Sustaining the with-profits miscellaneous surplus distribution policy.
• Managing the with-profits excess surplus distribution policy.
• Overseeing strategic initiatives, encompassing M&A and with-profits transformation endeavours.
• Driving process enhancements and operational efficiency within an actuarial context.
• Spearheading capital initiatives to align with actuarial objectives.
• Crafting proposals relevant to the actuarial aspects of with-profits business, such as bonus recommendations, PPFM changes, and annual reports on PPFM compliance.
• Collaborating and coordinating with various departments, including IT, Pricing, and Risk.
• Participating in relevant Executive and Board level committees to ensure alignment with actuarial considerations.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Life Insurance professional or a recently qualified Actuary 

Key skills and experience:

• Ideally a recently qualified actuary
• Good working knowledge of life insurance products including with-profits products and their operation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across the business.
• SQL would be desirable but not essential
