Assistant Accountant

Change Recruitment are partnering with a dynamic and growing organisation in need of an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team for an 18-month contract. Based in Kirkcaldy, you will play a vital role in supporting our finance department and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes. This position is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking to build on their accounting experience within a collaborative environment.

Location: Kirkcaldy, Fife
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (18 months)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.

• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.

• Support the accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoicing and credit control.

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Provide financial analysis and variance reporting.

• Assist with internal and external audits.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in an accounting role (1-2 years minimum) is essential.

• Part-qualified in ACCA, CIMA, or ACA (or equivalent) is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) is a plus.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
