Accounts Assistant (Edinburgh)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our clients growing team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a top accountancy firm, supporting a variety of clients across different industries and gaining valuable experience to develop your career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts for a range of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, and managing ledgers.
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and liaise with HMRC as required.
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Maintain up-to-date and organised financial records.
- Communicate effectively with clients to address any queries and provide support where needed.
- Provide support to senior team members on various ad hoc tasks and projects.
Key Requirements:
- AAT qualified or working towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA/ICAS).
- Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar role within an accountancy practice is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
