We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our clients growing team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a top accountancy firm, supporting a variety of clients across different industries and gaining valuable experience to develop your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts for a range of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices, reconciling bank statements, and managing ledgers.
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and liaise with HMRC as required.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end reporting processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date and organised financial records.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to address any queries and provide support where needed.
  • Provide support to senior team members on various ad hoc tasks and projects.

Key Requirements:

  • AAT qualified or working towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA/ICAS).
  • Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar role within an accountancy practice is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks is an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
