Business Credit Risk Manager – Commercial Lending Insight
A leading UK-based financial institution is looking to hire a Business Credit Risk Manager to join its Commercial Credit Insight function. The team plays a central role in shaping the lending strategy for business customers and driving innovation across credit risk performance monitoring and portfolio insight.
This is a leadership role where you’ll be responsible for reviewing and assessing credit performance across commercial lending portfolios, delivering high-impact insights to senior stakeholders, and influencing strategic direction. You'll also play a key part in evolving how portfolio data is analysed, reported and actioned — from improving automation to identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
You’ll lead a small team focused on transforming credit risk reporting and embedding best practice in portfolio management. From recommending risk appetite metrics and triggers to delivering deep-dive assessments of asset quality, this is a hands-on, high-visibility position at the heart of business credit risk.
What you’ll be doing:
Leading credit performance reviews and presenting actionable insight to senior forums and external stakeholders.
Designing and evolving risk appetite frameworks for commercial lending portfolios.
Driving automation and improved efficiency in portfolio reporting and monitoring.
Managing deep-dive analysis and portfolio diagnostics, ensuring high-quality output that leads to action.
Deputising for the Head of Credit Risk on strategic and operational matters.
Embedding a culture of continuous improvement across portfolio management and insight generation.
What we’re looking for:
Strong background in credit risk, ideally in a commercial or business lending environment.
Advanced technical skills in tools such as SAS, SQL, Python or R.
Proven experience delivering analytics that shape risk strategy or policy.
Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills to convey insight clearly and persuasively.
A collaborative and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to influence across levels.
Desirable but not essential:
Experience in IRB frameworks or regulatory credit environments.
Exposure to business credit modelling or quantitative credit analytics.
Knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks and the three lines of defence model.
